5 Tips For Creating a Fun and Productive Work Environment (From Anywhere In The World!)
What’s my favorite get-ish-done productivity tip? Work in a fun but productive environment.
Luckily, you can create a solid work environment from home or anywhere in the world!
Read on for my best tried-and-true tips for creating a fun and productive work environment, so you can get your stuff done and then go off and enjoy the rest of your day.
1. Work from a trendy coffee shop.
One of my favorite ways to get in the zone is to leave my home office or hotel and all of its distractions and instead work from a coffee shop for an hour or two.
I sit down with an intention (and a killer cup of cold brew) to make significant progress or complete my main work task for the day.
2. Play on a high-energy playlist at home.
If I am working from home and need to be productive, then one of my favorite things to do is put on a high-energy Spotify playlist.
EDM, house music, and hip hop are my favorite genres for getting energized, inspired, and focused.
An alternative to this is putting on binaural beats (search Spotify for a bunch of ready-made playlists).
Binaural beats are designed to help the brain move into specific brainwave states that can help support your focus (or sleep or relaxation, depending on which ones you listen to)!
3. Work near the window at home or at a place with a nice view.
Working in a well-lit environment can do wonders. Our bodies work off of a circadian rhythm (which tells us when to be awake - with light - and when to get tired - with darkness).
Working next to a window, outside in the shade, or somewhere with a nice view helps me appreciate where I am, while helping to subtly signal to my brain that it’s time to be alert and awake.
4. Wear a fun yet comfortable outfit.
If you see my on a typical day, I will likely be wearing one of my three typical “looks”: athleisure, a swimsuit under denim shorts and a tank top, or an extra-AF dressed up outfit. There’s not much in between!
Whatever you wear, putting on real clothes (instead of working in your PJs all day) can help you get in a more focused state of mind (since PJs can signal that it’s time for bed).
And even if you are working from home and aren’t seeing anyone, putting on a fun outfit just for you can help you feel like that CEO/boss that you are.
5. Treat yourself to your favorite coffee, tea, or sparkling water.
Have your beverage handy! Getting set up with your favorite coffee, tea, or sparkling water next to you before you start working can help you get in the zone since you don’t have to break your focus to get up and make it in the kitchen, or go find one at a coffee shop.
If you have a big project that you’re working on, or you are dragging your feet on work one day, getting a fancy beverage (maybe you go buy a nice latte instead of making one at home) can be a fun way to shift your energy.
Overall, you can make your work environment FUN!
Being an entrepreneur means that you get to call the shots.
No more boring, windowless, grey-walled cubicles here, honey!
